YMCA Summer Camps: What’s Next?

From the first year that I was old enough to register, there wasn’t a single summer I didn’t spend going to some sort of camp. From day camps to sports training to musical theater camps, my summers were booked solid. And to tell you the truth, I loved every minute of it. I loved know that I had somewhere to go that day instead of sitting on the couch watching television by myself. And your children will too.

YMCA Summer Camps provide children with an exciting alternative to staying at home, and are sure to become their favorite part of the summer months. From swimming with friends to off-site trips, any child is sure to love their time at the Y. All of our camps participate in sports, play games, and make crafts together. All of our summer camps have a unique twist on their day-to-day activities to ensure your child has the best and most exciting experience possible. Check out some of the awesome activities from this past summer at the Y!

East Shore Day CampEast Shore Oakes
At the East Shore YMCA, our summer camp takes place downtown where kids can play safely along the scenic Susquehanna Riverfront, and enjoy indoor activities in our historic building. This summer, campers got a chance to go off-site on some great field trips, like this one to the Oakes Museum at Messiah College.

The West Shore YMCA day campers spent a day at the United States Army Heritage and Education Center, learning about the history of our armed forces. In addition, the students in all of our West Shore camps participated in Challenge Day, completing obstacles and activities in competition with one another. What a great way to make new friends!

Northern Dauphin County Day Camp
Camp at the Northern Dauphin YMCA follows a weekly theme. This year, the campers participated in Olympic week, Around the World, and Under the Sea themed activities. In addition, campers explored Lake Tobias, meeting new animal friends along the way.

At the ca all youth and teen members of the Y are invited to participate in Summer Camp at no additional charge. Day campers enjoyed a trip to the studios at ABC27, special community guest speakers, and lunch each day at the branch. All of our campers benefit from strong community and corporate support for the programs at Camp Curtin.

All of our locations take a lot of pride in our summer camps and try to make it a great and enjoyable experience for the campers that come. I’m sure that if your child attended one of our camps, they loved every minute of it. Now that the summer has turned to fall, and kids are back in school, those summer days at the Y start to fade. However, kids don’t have to wait until the school bell rings next May to enjoy similar activities at the Y.

At the Y, kids of all ages have access to sports, activities, and year-round swimming. Each branch of our YMCA provides a variety of opportunities so that your child can always find something to keep them busy. Whether you’re looking for swim lessons, youth sports, or just a place for your child to have fun and learn, we’ve got you covered.
