The Harrisburg Area YMCA’s Child Development Centers provide a safe, nurturing environment for children to learn, grow and develop social skills. We believe it is never too early to focus on the growth of the whole person. We see the unique character and temperament of each child. Our Centers support developmentally appropriate lessons to foster emotional, creative, and physical growth. They are a great place for your child to excel in a positive setting.

At the Y, we believe that all families should have access to the quality child care that they need. That’s why we provide the best childcare in the nation! During each day in full daycare, our Child Development Centers staff takes the time to listen, guide, teach, and play with warmth, patience, insight, and fairness. Each child develops at his or her own pace, which creates an environment of comfort, security, encouragement, and fun!

YMCA Child Development Center at Camp Curtin
Offering care for ages 6 weeks to 5 years
Our preschool program utilizes The Creative Curriculum, which is one of the most widely-used Pre-K curricula in the nation. The Creative Curriculum is comprehensive, research-based, and features exploration and discovery as a way of learning. During the day, students will be actively engaged in various educational and social/emotional activities that encourage purposeful play. They will receive instruction in a nurturing and safe environment, which will help them excel in their learning.

Friendship YMCA Preschool
Offering care for ages 3-5 years
The Friendship YMCA is here to fill the gap, providing full-day care for preschoolers ages 3-5. Weekly pool and gym time are included!
New at the Friendship YMCA: Kindergarten Prep! If your child is getting ready to graduate from preschool to kindergarten, our staff can help prepare them for a new routine, new social settings, and more.

Child Safety
At the Y, child safety and protection is our number one priority. Our goal is to help educate parents and children on how to be safe from child abuse in any environment with the skills they learn at our Y. Our team is trained in comprehensive and innovative practices around child safety to ensure your children are safe in our care.
Financial Assistance
The Harrisburg Area YMCA is committed to welcoming everybody to the Y, regardless of income, background, or age. The YMCA Financial Assistance Program uses a sliding fee scale tailored to each person’s financial situation, made possible by the generosity of our members and donors through the YMCA Impact Fund.
