[HARRISBURG, 6/23/22] — The Harrisburg Area YMCA announced today that Richard A. Curl will retire after 25 years of service effective August 1, 2022.  He will be succeeded by David Ozmore, an experienced YMCA leader who has served the YMCA in multiple senior roles throughout the country.

Mr. Ozmore’s selection is the result of a months-long process for the Harrisburg Area YMCA following the announcement that Richard Curl would retire this year. Rich has held the position of President & CEO of the Harrisburg Area YMCA since 1997 and has pioneered programs and services throughout the region. In addition to multiple capital improvement projects, Rich has grown the organization’s charitable efforts through youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility initiatives over the course of his 25 years of service.

“On behalf of the Harrisburg Area YMCA Board of Directors, we are excited to welcome David to our YMCA,” said Mike Cleary, Board Chair. “David’s long history of service to the YMCA mission will bring new ideas to our strong organization. His leadership will build upon Rich’s long history of excellence at the Harrisburg Area YMCA. The board would like to thank Rich for his 25 years of leadership as he embarks on his well-deserved retirement.”

Throughout his 28-year career in the Y, David Ozmore has held leadership positions in Ys of various sizes in small, urban, and metropolitan areas. David started his career as Director of Operations/Youth Sports with the YMCA of the Triangle (Raleigh, NC). Following this, he served as Chief Operating Officer at a small community Y in Cleveland County, NC. David also held the position of CEO for the YMCA of Greater New Orleans, and the YMCA of Greater High Point in North Carolina. Most recently, Mr. Ozmore has served as the Chief Executive Officer of the Kentucky/West Virginia Regional Alliance of YMCAs.

“I am very excited and honored to be chosen to lead the Harrisburg Area YMCA,” shared David.  “As an organization with 168 years of service to the Harrisburg area, I know that we all share our desire to make our community stronger. We will continue to enhance relationships with partners, members, donors, and community leaders. As a YMCA we hope to continue providing quality programs and services for all to enjoy!”
