Community Collaborations Bring Programs

Summer 2014 marks the 15th year that the YMCA has provided programming in the Dillsburg Area! The Y first provided Summer Camp in 1999 to 15 children, and this year we are serving 56 kids in the Dillsburg camp.

Following the first few years of Summer Camp, the Y added a Youth Basketball League in 2002 for youth in 1st-4th grade.  This first year, the program welcomed 98 participants and 20 volunteers. By 2013 the Youth Basketball League included 197 kids through middle school and included travel teams.

In 2003 the Y began a collaboration with the Northern York School District to provide aquatic programming which included swim lessons, water fitness as well as lap swimming and recreation time for the community. The first session of aquatic classes had a total of 35 participants. Currently, the aquatics programming welcomes an average of 100 participants a session.

Over the years, the YMCA continues to work with the Northern York School District and has added a swim team, sports camps, preschool programming and adult recreational basketball and volleyball, and has expanded to multiple building throughout the district. The YMCA is proud to partner with the Northern York School District and looks forward to many more years of growth!
