Porter Withers grew up at the Y and was a member of the swim team. He’s now working on becoming an Eagle Scout. To complete this goal, his project will be to create a memorial garden in honor of two of his former swim coaches, Kim Jones and Alyson Chick-Antonicelli, who lost their battles with cancer. Kim and Alyson were also alumni of the West Shore YMCA swim team who returned to the Y as adults to give back to the program that made an impact on them growing up. Porter is one of many kids whose lives were touched by these two caring adult role models. Many of the Y’s former swimmers return after college to coach the new generation of swimmers and give back to the program they enjoyed.
