4th of July Festivities!

flag4th of July Weekend is almost here! This Monday, we celebrate our independence as a nation by decking out in red, white, and blue colors, watching firework displays, and enjoying cookouts with friends and family.

The Harrisburg Area YMCA also recognizes this holiday by closing its four branches so our staff can spend time with their families. There are many events and festivities to take the place of your Monday visit at the Y, however, so do not fret! We want to provide you with some great local events to enjoy this weekend, so you can fill your fourth with fun!

  • Interested in a ball game? The Harrisburg Senators are playing the Erie SeaWolves on July 4th on City Island! Game starts at 7:00PM on Monday, so grab your baseball cap and head out to the field! Click HERE for more details.
  • Do you enjoy music? Check out the Harrisburg Symphony Orchestra’s FREE concert on July 4th at Riverfront Park, South End, Harrisburg! Concert starts at 7:45PM and leads into the Harrisburg fireworks display at 9:15PM. According to Penn Live, the Orchestra will be playing patriotic numbers for the Independence Day celebration, so don’t miss it!
  • Are vineyards your happy place? Head over to the Spring Gate Vineyard on Monday from 12:00PM – 11:00PM for their 4th of July Festival at the Vineyard! The event will feature food, drinks, and live music. To view their Facebook event, click HERE.
  • Celebrate Independence Day with a parade! The Paxtang Borough will be hosting an Independence Day Parade on July 4th, starting at 10:00AM. Admission is FREE and open to the public. Click HERE to visit their website!
  • Who can forget about fireworks? There are a variety of Fireworks Celebrations all around Central PA this July 4th weekend. According to PennLive, various fireworks displays will be held on Monday, July 4th at: City Island, Hersheypark, Veteran’s Memorial Park, Carlisle Fairgrounds, Clipper Magazine Stadium in Lancaster, Lincoln Heights Outdoor Recreation Area, Coleman Memorial Park, Jacobus Community Park, and PeoplesBand Park in York!

In addition to fireworks, Riverfront Park will be hosting their Independence Day Food Truck Festival and Fireworks from 3:00-9:00PM Monday, and the Civic Club of Harrisburg will be hosting their Fireworks Express! 2016 event from 7:30-10:30PM. (Click HERE to purchase Fireworks Express! tickets!)
