To Our Members,

Today, we announce a three week closure of our facilities effective December 11, 2020 at close of business; the Camp Curtin YMCA, the East Shore YMCA, the Northern Dauphin County YMCA, the West Shore YMCA, and the YMCA Center for Healthy Living. This action has been taken in response to a new mandate from the Governor. Our current reopening date is January 4, 2021.

We understand that the closure of our facilities might feel abrupt and unexpected. We know it is a result of these extraordinary circumstances, but the health and well-being of our community is tremendously important. Please refer to our website, social media, emails, and mobile app for timely updates.

It’s more important than ever to live our YMCA mission of serving and strengthening our communities. Online workouts will continue on a daily basis, and you are encouraged to join us and keep your connection to the YMCA strong. We will also be continuing our child care programs, and the Camp Curtin YMCA remains committed to their food distribution partnerships. The YMCA may look a bit different during this time, but we will continue to impact the community as much as we are able.

We know you still have a lot of questions. We do, too. All of us at the Y are grateful for the outpouring of support many of you have expressed. We are committed to doing everything possible to support our community during this emergency situation and to assure the future of the YMCA and all of its services. Closure for any length of time represents a significant threat to our nonprofit organization. Still, during this difficult time, the Y has offered our facilities and resources to support our local health systems through this developing crisis.

We cannot express the potentially devastating impact extensive cancellations can have. We know the Y is an extension of your family and we remain honored and committed to serving you, just as we have served for the last 168 years. Here are some things we can share with you:

  • Those currently enrolled in programs that involve registration fees have two choices: you can consider your program fees a donation to the Y’s ongoing mission to serve the community during this challenging period, or take a credit toward future programming in the 2021 calendar year.
  • We are grateful for the support of our YMCA members. We understand that many may be negatively impacted during this time, including the YMCA. We hope you continue your membership as we try to maintain our operation through rough seas. However, if you have a concern with your own situation, please call your home branch, and let us know how we can help.

Whatever you choose, we thank you for your support and understanding. Please take care of yourself and one another. Our community is strong, and together, we will get through this.
