Nutrition Counseling

One of the most important aspects of a healthy lifestyle is one’s eating habits. Did you know that weight loss, on average, consists of 70% diet and 30% exercise? That means what you eat has a significant impact on your health! Nutrition Counseling is for anyone who would like to speak with a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist for a personalized nutrition care plan to meet their unique health outcomes.

The Harrisburg Area YMCA dedicates to helping maintain a healthy community through a variety of programs and services. This is why we have provided not only fitness classes and wellness facilities but also nutrition counseling to our members to help them stay active and eat healthy too! The YMCA Nutrition Counseling Program helps adults find a healthier way of eating that’s right for them. Together, the dietitian and client will:

  • Assess current nutritional status, and discuss desired health and lifestyle outcomes
  • Design a personalized nutrition care plan that is aligned with needs and wants
  • Collaborate on S.M.A.R.T. goals for changing behaviors and building habits
  • Select evidence-based information, tools, strategies, and support for each step of the journey
