Active Older Adults

At the Harrisburg Area YMCA, we encourage our community members to live their lives to the fullest. And we mean at any age! That means living a healthy lifestyle with the help of others. At the majority of our branches, we provide tons of programs. They allow active older adults to come together to workout out and socialize. Older adults who work out show signs of increased mental health, social engagement, and improved cognitive function! At that, seniors who routinely exercise can better stave off disease and decrease their risk of falls. According to American Senior Communities, routine exercise by seniors may decrease the time it takes for a wound to heal by 25%. New studies have found that seniors who exercise improve not only their physical activity but their mental health as well!

The YMCA is a great place for folks of all backgrounds and walks of life to focus on their health and wellness while making new friends. We offer our senior programs for SilverSneakers® members and senior members alike. Learn more about how to expand your membership at the Y!
