Zumba® Fitness Classes

Like to dance? Want to work out at the same time? The Harrisburg Area YMCA provides different types of dance fitness for all ability levels!

Zumba® fitness classes fuse hypnotic Latin rhythms and easy to follow moves to create a dynamic workout system that will blow you away.  This class includes meringue, salsa, hip-hop, and many more international dances from around the world.  No rhythm required!  The classes blend both high and low intensity dancing to help you get fit, increase cardio, improve balance and condition muscles, all while moving to the music.

Dance fitness is a great way to keep both your mind and body healthy. Not only does it give you a great (and fun) workout, but dancing can actually help to reduce stress, life your spirits, and improve your memory function. Learning new movements to music can been your brain sharp as you age and keep your body in shape. A fusion of Latin and International music-dance themes that create a fun and effective fitness system. It is based on the principle that a workout should fun and easy.

Zumba® Gold

Takes the traditional dance formula and modifies the moves and pacing to suit the needs of the active older participants, as well as those just starting their fitness journey. The class is geared towards the active older adult and beginner exerciser – workouts are lower intensity, but still give you the workout you’re looking for, while incorporating the same zesty Latin music and easy-to-follow moves. This dance-fitness class allows you to make friends, have fun and get fit!
