The Health Equity Tour is a series of in-person events throughout the 67 counties in Pennsylvania focused on access to health resources. The 12-month tour will promote the YMCA evidence-based chronic disease management programs (LIVESTRONG® at the YMCA, YMCA’s Diabetes Prevention Program, Enhance®Fitness, YMCA’s Blood Pressure Self-Monitoring Program, Freedom From Smoking, Healthy Weight and Your Child, and the YMCA’s Weight Loss Program).
During this tour, the YMCA staff will distribute educational materials about COVID-19, oral health and water fluoridation resources, how to combat senior social isolation, and the harmful effects of tobacco use and vaping. Tour staff will promote and educate the individuals in attendance about Pennie™ and how to obtain insurance through the state-based exchange. The YMCA staff will also work with food banks and pantries to distribute food to those attending the event, connect attendees with COVID-19 vaccinations (where available), and coordinate community blood drives.
