Teen Achievers Program
The YMCA’s Teen Achievers program is designed to boost academic achievement and career success for high school youth, creating confident youth and stronger communities. The Teen Achievers program equips high school teens with the skills they need to graduate from post-secondary institutions and successfully enter the workforce.
Achievers programs have grown to serve students from a variety of cultures and financial backgrounds, and provide teens with insight into how to navigate the process to secondary education and career success. The program also gives teens positive role models from their own community. The program provides all students the opportunity to network in a like-minded program and bond with peers to push each other toward success.
College preparation or “readiness” programming helps teens set and achieve high educational and professional standards, and exposes them to diverse career options they may otherwise not have encountered. College prep positively impacts high school graduation rates and successful entry into higher education. YMCA Achievers offers teens targeted sessions which include:
- Learning communities
- Financial literacy
- SAT/ACT preparation
- College Tours
- Specialized career and academic workshops
- Affirming cultural events
