Functional Training exercises are a great way to strengthen areas of the body that one utilizes in daily life in order to prevent injuries. Through various exercises, individuals can stabilize their body and improve their range of motion. Fueled by Function, a functional training class at the Northern Dauphin County YMCA, incorporates exercises and motions that you utilize every day. Classes include a combination of weight training exercises, aerobic conditioning, core stability, and balance exercises. Areas of the body such as the core and back are strengthened in order to be utilized to their fullest potential. Activities such as carrying a heavy box or walking up a narrow flight of stairs, can be improved as we age through functional training.
The class promotes individual growth with group challenges. Our group fitness instructors offer modifications for any level and ability, so every individual can maximize their class time at a pace that is appropriate and comfortable for them.
