Paddle Tennis

Play a game of Paddle Tennis at the Harrisburg Area YMCA!

The basic game of Paddle Tennis, also referred to as Platform Tennis, is similar to the game of Tennis. In comparison to traditional tennis, the sport utilizes a solid paddle and a rubber ball, rather than a wired racquet. The size of the courts are also traditionally smaller in size, and the sport is most often played in doubles.

Due to the indoor nature of the game, Paddle Tennis is practiced year-round. The tennis ball can also be played off of the walls, in contrast to regular outdoor tennis matches. The paddle’s solid material helps keep the ball in a smaller, enclosed space by giving it less spring to rebound from.

Paddle Tennis is currently available at the East Shore YMCA branch, and is open to adult members of the Harrisburg Area YMCA. The sport is currently available to play on Saturdays from 7:00-8:45AM for members in the West Gymnasium. Days and Times are subject to change throughout the year. Please visit your local YMCA schedules page to find out when this class is offered at a branch near you!
