Residence Hall – Residence Hall

East Shore YMCA Residence Hall Program

One of the original social missions of the Y endures at the East Shore Branch where we provide affordable on-site housing for a diverse community of 86 men in a safe and secure environment.  As a part of this effort, the Y also provides bridge housing for formerly homeless veterans, part of a collaborative effort with the Veterans Administration The East Shore YMCA is proud to be one of the longest-running YMCA housing facilities in America.

The main objective of the East Shore YMCA Residence Hall program is to offer assistance to adults in need of stable and independent living while helping them obtain services from community agencies or government programs. The Residence Hall and the East Shore YMCA provide these men community, fellowship, and opportunities to improve their lives. It also provides affordable housing for individuals seeking to break the cycle of homelessness or those who may need short-term assistance during a life transition.

Our residents have access to the full range of Y programs and services. The YMCA Center for Healthy Living and the East Shore YMCA provide classes and services for residents at low to no cost. These include smoking cessation, career assistance, and healthy living programs. Residents in our program are YMCA members with privileges to the facilities including the gym, pool, and Wellness Center. It is the intention of the YMCA that the men who call the YMCA home have access to everything they need to live a healthy and full life!

The multi-story residence features 86 smoke-free single rooms. Each room is furnished with a twin bed, a dresser, and a small closet. Communal showers and bathrooms are located on each floor. Other amenities include a coin-operated washer & dryer and vending machines.
