HOPE in Handball

Hope in Handball – HOPE in Handball

A Unique Mentoring Program

At the Harrisburg Area YMCA, we believe the values and skills learned early in life are vital building blocks for quality of life. That’s why we seek to combine mentoring opportunities with sports to engage with youth in the community. The HOPE in Handball program at the East Shore YMCA reaches out to at-risk kids and teens to help them learn life skills from adult mentors as they learn a new sport. During the program, they learn about sportsmanship, and more importantly, how to be themselves. This makes for confident kids today and contributing and engaged adults tomorrow!

Family involvement is encouraged for our Hope in Handball program. With the help of others, HOPE in Handball is a great place to find friendship. It also helps you stay active and learn from others in a positive encouraging environment. Mentors and kids gather at the handball courts at the East Shore YMCA on Wednesdays from 5:00-7:00 PM and on Saturday mornings. The program targets 8–18-year-olds and is free to qualifying participants! For more information about this program, please contact the East Shore YMCA at (717) 232-9622.
