Finding a Healthy Lifestyle

Charen Miller came to the YMCA to build a healthier lifestyle. With the support of the Northern Dauphin County YMCA staff, she was able to build so much more. Here is a note that Charen sent to the YMCA:

“My friends at NDCYMCA. I just want to take a moment to thank everyone for the encouragement and support over the past year. It was hard work but I have succeed in losing 45 pounds in less than a year. Exercise and Healthy Eating have been my key to success. There needs to be a permanent lifestyle change, no one has control over your eating habits…… but YOU!!! Eating Healthy and consistent exercise, go hand in hand to help anyone be successful in achieving their goals. I use a sandwich plate as my dinner plate, keep my portions small on everything I eat. Lots of fresh fruit and veggies are the best. I always avoid foods high in carbohydrates–  bread, rice, potatoes, and pasta as much as possible. I always read the labels on the foods I consume, as it is important know what you are putting in your body. Remember to drink lots of water, eight 8oz glasses a day!
